Here is it, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and I'm at work. But, unlike any pre-Thanksgiving Wednesday in recent memory I am not frantically trying to finish a dozen different things so that I can avoid the guilt of taking a vacation day on Friday to have a nice 4-day weekend. I even worked on the Friday after Thanksgiving a few times. This is the first place I've worked where I get the Friday after as a holiday. That's a nice example of my career shift from over-worked engineer to underworked. I like it better this way. I'm probably also a funner person to be around. It's certainly more fun to be me.

I noticed that picture of the clock gears, which was really neat - where did you take that? Is that a building you deal with for work?
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Neat thingy! Glad you are able to enjoy your time off (with Alphagal and E-baby!) so much more now that you are underemployed.
The clock is the old clockworks from the New Bern, NC city hall. It was replaced by a digital works many years ago after it stopped working. More recently a group of locals is refurbishing the old clock and it may end up in a state museum project of mine. The restoration is really amazing- it looks brand new. But, they still have probably the hardest part to rebuild before it will actually do "time." I'll send some more pictures by email.
The Thingy is great! Everybody should have one.
